ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙС ΑΥΡ ΚΟΜΟΔΟС СЄΒ, bust right, wearing cloak and crown of the demiourgos / ΑΔΡ ΚΟΜΟΔΙΑΝΗС ΤΑΡ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛЄΩС ΔΙС ΝЄΩΚΟΡΟΥ, two temples of ten columns facing, with ΚΟΙΝΟI ΚΙΛΙΚΙΑС across architraves; star between. RPC IV Online 5037 (temporary); BMC 168. 38.46g, 39mm, 1h. Good Very Fine - Near Extremely Fine. A wonderful composition. Very Rare. From the inventory of a UK dealer. Although it is uncertain when the first Neocorate was given to Cilicia, this medallion and other similar examples clearly marks the grant of the second to Cilicia by Commodus.
