PHOENICIA, Tyre. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ (27mm, 11.78 g, 11h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Dido standing left on deck of galley sailing right, holding short scepter in extended right hand, cornucopia in left; at stern, helmsman bending over rudder to left; sailor to right, stern decorated with a shield and aphlaston, two murex shells in exergue. Rouvier 2377; BMC 410; AUB 246; Lindgren II 2379. Fine, dark green and brown patina with traces of red, cleaning scratches. Rare.
