| Lot description: Ancients JUDAEA. Herodian Dynasty. Agrippa II (AD 49-95). AE (21mm, 9.7 gm, 12h). Fine. Sepphoris-Neronias, dated Regal Year 14, under Nero (AD 67/68). EΠI OYECΠACIANOY EIPHNOΠOΛI NEPΩNIA CEPΠΦΩ, two cornucopiae surrounding caduceus / LΔI / NEPΩN / KΛAYΔIOY / KAICAPO / C, legend in five lines within a circle enclosed by wreath. GBC 6, 6308. Ex David Connors, VCoins private sale, sku DM2214; from a German collector. As the obverse legend alludes (in the time of Vespasian, in Irenopolis-Neronias-Sepphoris) this coin was issued during the Jewish Rebellion, by Agrippa II, naming Vespasian in Judaea as he led the effort to quell the rebellion, before being named Emperor. A very interesting coin with regard to the Jewish rebellion and Judaea Capta coinage.
