| Lot description: Hadrian; 117-138 AD, Rome, ca. 131-2 AD, Dupondius, 14.18g. RIC-719. Obv: HADRIANVS-AVGVSTVS, Laureate, draped bust l. Rx: FELICITATI / AVG, S - C across, COS III P P in exergue, Galley rowed l. by six oarsmen, in stern emperor seated under arch, extending r. arm, flanked by vexillum and standard, at prow slanting mast with small sail. Ex HJB BBS 200, Oct. 2016,, lot 371; Bought by previous owner from Apollo Numismatics; with their ticket. Not in BMC with the this bust type and with FELICITATI AVG written across the field rather than around the upper edge. The BM sestertius no. 1394, pl. 85.1, however, has the same rx. type and legend arrangement as our dupondius.
