| Lot description: PERSIA. Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes I to Darios II. Circa 455-420 B.C. AR siglos. 5.55 gm. 14 mm. Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes or subsidiary mint. Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance right, holding dagger and bow / Irregular incuse punch; small countermark. Carradice Type IV, Group A (pl. XIII, 33). Cf. Meadows, Administration 326. BMC Arabia pl. XXVII, 7. Cf. Sunrise 27 (daric). Good Very Fine; lightly iridescent tone; fresh metal; well centered and clear; sharply detailed head and upper body, flat strike below; clear small countermark with irregular incuse on reverse.
