| Lot description: KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.30 g, 12 h), Pella, circa 294-293. Nike, blowing a trumpet and holding a stylis in her left hand, standing to left on a left-facing prow. Rev. BA-ΣIΛEΩ-Σ / ΔHMHTΡIOΥ Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys draped over his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right hand; in field to left, monogram of 𐤆Ω; in field to right, dolphin left above star. HGC 3.1, 1012e. Newell 68, obverse die LVII. Dewing 1196 (same obverse die). SNG Alpha Bank -. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG München -. Lightly toned and with a sharply struck reverse. Struck very slightly off center and from a somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, extremely fine. From the collection of J.-L.
