Satraps of Caria, Pixodaros (340-334 BC), AR Didrachm, Halikarnassos, laureate head of Apollo facing, inclined slightly to right, rev. [P]IXWDARO[Y], Zeus Labraundos standing right, wearing a chiton and a himation, holding labrys in right hand and spear in left hand, 7.03g (BMC p.184, 5-10; Prospero 549; Lockett 2913), some wear to nose on obverse portrait, minor doubling to legend, wonderful cabinet toning, struck in high relief, from the cabinets of two historic collections, good very fine.
