SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 6.62 g, 6 h), circa 300 BC. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind neck, owl standing right, with head facing. Rev. Pegasos flying to left; above, star of eight rays. Calciati 28 (same dies). SNG Ashmolean 2095 (same dies). Attractively toned and of very fine style. Minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet ornamented with three olive leaves above the visor and a palmette on the bowl, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right, head facing; in upper left field, olive spray and crescent; all within an incuse square. Dewing 1591-8. HGC 4, 1597. Kroll 8. SNG Copenhagen 31. Attractive golden toning; sharp and lustrous. Extremely fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike standing to left with spread wings, holding laurel wreath in her right hand and a stylis with her left; in the field below to left, Φ; in the field below to right, Μ. Price 3592 (same dies as the illustrated example from the British Museum). A scarce issue, with a small and elegant head of Athena. Minor reverse edge nick at 3h, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
