T. Carisius, 46 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.72 g, 5 h), Rome. MONETA Draped bust of Juno Moneta to right, wearing pendant earring and necklace. Rev. T•CARISIVS Coining implements: anvil die with garlanded punch die above, tongs to left and hammer to right; all within laurel wreath. Babelon (Carisia) 1. Crawford 464/2. CRI 70. RBW 1614. Sydenham 982b. Banker's mark and flan flaw on the obverse, the reverse struck slightly off center and with a small deposit, otherwise, very fine.

This popular type is a direct reference to the mint in Rome, which was located near the temple of Juno Moneta on the Capitoline Hill, and the mint workers, whose tools are depicted on the reverse. It is one of many types Carisius issued to pay Caesar's veterans during the dictator's quadruple triumph in 46 BC.
