The Nabataeans were apparently a nomadic tribe that came from Arabia. Their kingdom flourished in the region of modern-day Jordan beginning in the 4th century BCE when they are first discussed in the Bible. Their mountain fortress of Petra, carved out of rock south of the Dead Sea, figures in the Bible. Their wealth came from their monopoly on the rich caravan trade that passed from the Arabian interior to the coast. Estimate: 250 USD | ![]() |
