| Lot description: The Republicans. C. Cassius Longinus and L. Cornelius Lentulus Spinther, 43-42 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.79 g, 6 h), mint moving with Brutus and Cassius, probably Smyrna. Sydenham 1308. RBW 1761. Sharply struck and attractive. Both sides struck slightly off-center, otherwise, good extremely fine. From the collection of Robert Hoge, ex Classical Numismatic Group e324, 9 April 2014, 344. This used to be a very rare coin but it has become more common in recent years. Nevertheless, the outstandingly fine quality of this coin - well-struck from fresh dies - makes it a most desirable coin to have; especially since it is such an evocative and historical object.
