Lot description: Kushanas, Kanishka I, c. 127-152, AV quarter dinar, 1.98 g. (13 mm). Obverse: crowned, diademed bust of king left holding spear with left hand, Bactrian legend ÞAONANOÞAO KA NhÞKI KOÞANO (King of kings, Kanishka Kushan) around. Reverse: Goddess Nana standing right, holding bowl and sceptre, Bactrian legend at left NANA and tamgha at right, dotted border around. This is an extremely rare quarter dinar that depicts the king as a bust rather than full-figure. Also in this type the Greek legend begins at the 1 o'clock point, instead of at the 7 o'clock of the full-length coins.
