| Lot description: Julius Caesar and C. Clovius, 46-45 BC. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 29 mm, 16.62 g, 12 h), Rome (?). CAESAR DIC TER Bust of Victory to right; behind, star. Rev. C CLOVLI PRAEF Minerva advancing to left, holding trophy, spears and shield decorated with gorgoneion; at her feet to left, snake to left. Babelon (Julia) 17 and (Clovia) 11. Cohen 7. Crawford 476/1b. CRI 62a. RBW 1668. RPC 601. Hoge Collection. Green patina and rare. Small flan flaw on obverse edge; minor marks, otherwise, very fine. From the Robert Hoge collection, acquired from Vauctions in 2011. RPC lists this issue as coming from an "uncertain mint in northern Italy".
