EGYPT. Alexandria. Octavian, 40-27 BC. 80 Drachmai or Diobol (Bronze, 27 mm, 19.80 g, 12 h), 30-28. ΘΕΟΥ ΥΙΟΥ Bare head of Octavian to right. Rev. ΚΑΙΣΑΡΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; in left field, double cornucopia; in right field, [Π]. RPC 5001. Dattari 2. Attractive red-brown patina. Traces of overstriking and with some areas of minor roughness, old scrape on reverse, otherwise, about very fine.


Overstruck on an earlier issue with a double cornucopia reverse- but which one? The ornamented tips of the cornucopia are visible behind the eagle.
