Lot description: BOEOTIA. Thespiai. Circa 210 BC. (Bronze, 16.5 mm, 4.04 g, 9 h). Female (Arsinoe III) head to right, wearing modius and veil; dotted border. Rev. ΘEΣΠI/EΩN Lyre; all within laurel wreath. BCD Boiotia 611. HGC 4, 1408. SNG Copenhagen 406-407. Very well centered. Minor earthen deposits. Very fine. From the John Aiello Collection, and that of BCD, acquired from Baldwin's in June of 1968 for one pound!. Arsinoe III and her husband were supporters of the Mouseia, a Panhellenic festival that took place every four years at Thespiai.
