Lot description: BOEOTIA. Thespiai. Circa 210 BC. (Bronze, 14.5 mm, 3.03 g, 6 h). Female (Arsinoe III) head to right, wearing modius and veil. Rev. ΘEΣΠI/EΩN Lyre; all within laurel wreath. BCD Boiotia 612. SNG Copenhagen 406-407. Brown patina with light brown highlights. Very fine. From the John Aiello Collection, and that of BCD, acquired in July of 1981. Arsinoe III and her husband were supporters of the Mouseia, a Panhellenic festival that took place every four years at Thespiai.
