Kushan Empire, Kanishka (c.127-151), AE Tetradrachms (4), Taxila / Pushkalavati, king standing left, sacrificing over altar left, holding trident on right, Iranian legend, rev. (i) radiate Mithra miopo; (ii) Athsho; (iii) four-armed Siva; finally, Tetradrachm with a fabricated 'Buddha' reverse (MK 770, 772, 781; ANS Kushan 418-28, 459-79, 553-60; MAC 3076, 3083, 3093), the first toned fine, the second about very fine, the third and fourth fine (4).

Vasudeva, nimbate, standing facing, head to left, sacrificing over altar and holding trident; flames at right shoulder; filleted trident to left; A to left on Vasudeva's trident, 'ha' in Brahmi to right / Ithyphallic Siva standing facing, holding diadem and trident; behind, the bull Nandi standing to left; tamgha to upper left; 'ha' in Brahmi on trident shaft. MK 535 (Vasudeva II) var. (symbols on reverse); ANS Kushan -; Donum Burns 448. Sharply struck on a nice full broad flan. Nicely centered. Choice Superb" As Struck". Great example for this issue.

BAΓO OAPAYPANO O OZOPKO KOÞANO ÞAYO ('His Majesty, Bahram, Great King of the Kushan' in Bactrian) Bahram I standing front, head to left, wearing a crenellated crown with a globe on top between two broad horizontally-pleated ribbons, sacrificing with his right hand over altar and holding trident in his left hand; to left, trident; to right, tamgha. Rev. BOPZOOANΔO IAZOΔO ('The illustrious God' in Bactrian) Shiva standing facing, holding diadem in his right hand and trident in his left; behind, the bull Nandi, his companion, standing left. ANS Kushan 2423. Cribb, Kidarites, pl. 140, 11. A lovely example with an attractive obverse. Struck from the ususal somewhat worn reverse die and with an edge crack, otherwise, extremely fine.
