SATRAPS OF CARIA. Pixodaros, circa 341/0-336/5 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20.5 mm, 6.97 g, 12 h), Halikarnassos. Laureate head of Apollo facing, turned slightly to right; at neck, edge of his cloak held together by circular brooch. Rev. ΠΙΞΩΔΑΡΟΥ Zeus Labraundos standing right, fully draped and holding long scepter in his left hand and double-axe with his right. HN Online 241. Konuk, Identities, 30. SNG Keckman 280. SNG von Aulock 2375-6. A impressive piece, struck in very high relief. Extremely fine.
