LYDIA, Gordus-Julia. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ (34mm, 23.21 g, 6h). Aurelius Julianus II, grandson of Artemas, first archon for the second time. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind; c/m: Zeus seated left, holding patera and scepter within round incuse / Mên standing facing, head left, wearing Phrygian cap and crescent on shoulders, holding patera and spear. Hochard 529 (D44/R69); Kurth 91; RPC VI Online 4417. For c/m: Howgego 271. Yellow-brown surfaces, some find patina, porosity, cleaning scratches. Near VF. Extremely rare. Hochard, Kurth, and RPC all cite the same specimen published at Wildwinds, this appears to be the second known example.
