Lot description: Anonymous, circa 207. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 4.09 g, 10 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, X (mark of value). Rev. ROMA (in linear frame) The Dioscuri, each holding spear, on horseback galloping right; above their heads, two stars; below, cornucopiae. Crawford 58/2. RBW 224. Sydenham 216. Nicely toned and struck on a broad flan. Minor spots of horn silver and with a light scratch on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine. From the Graham Collection of Roman Republican Coins, Numismatica Ars Classica 138, 18 May 2023, 378 and previously privately acquired from Seaby on the 29th of November 1974. Estimate: 350 CHF |
