| Lot description: Metapontum. Nomos circa 290-280, AR 21 mm, 7.86 g. Wreathed head of Demeter r.; Π behind neck. Rev. META Barley ear with leaf to l.; pig standing r. on leaf, below, ΦI. Johnston Class D, 4.19 (these dies). Historia Numorum Italy 1625. Very rare. Struck in high relief and with lovely iridescent tone.
