Lot description: Kingdom of Thrace, Lysimachos (305-281 BC), AR Tetradrachm, Amphipolis, c. 288-281 BC, diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great right, wearing horn of Ammon, rev. BASILEOS LYSIMAXOY, Athena Nikephoros seated left, resting elbow on round shield with transverse spear behind, caduceus/kerykeion to left field, KP monogram to outer right, 17.06g (Thompson 191; Müller 106 var. (handle on kerykeion); HGC 3, 1750l), lovely surfaces with a pleasing portrait, toned, with slight evidence of double-strike to reverse, otherwise good very fine.
