Lot description: Kings of Thrace, Lysimachos AR Tetradrachm. Sestos, circa 299-296 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander to right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated to left, resting left arm on shield, transverse spear in background; BΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΛΥΣΙΜΑXΟΥ crowned by Nike to left, axe(?) to inner left field. Cf. Thompson 28 (axe, not plated); Müller -; HGC 3.2 1750 corr. (unlisted mint); Roma, E-29, 120 (same dies). 17.21g, 30mm, 2h. Good Extremely Fine; minor die breaks on rev., struck from dies of wonderful style. Exceedingly Rare; only one other example on CoinArchives, none in the ANS photofile.
