| Lot description: John I Zimisces. 969-976. AR Miliaresion (21.5mm, 2.11 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Cross crosslet set upon globus above two steps; in central medallion, crowned bust of John facing, wearing loros / Legend in five lines. DOC 7; SB 1792. Toned, clipped, doubling, minor die breaks, light scratch. VF. This specimen does not perfectly conform to either DOC sub-designation of (a) with five pellets above and below the reverse inscription, or (b) with four.
