A great example of the popular "legionary" issue struck in the lead up to Antony and Cleopatra's battle against the forces of Octavian at Patrae, with solid centering, enticing toning, and a flan of good metal.

ATTICA. Athens. AR Tetradrachm (17.08 gms), ca. 454-404 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Light Graffito.
HGC-4, 1597; Kroll-8. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent to left; all within incuse square. A lovely example of the classic Athenian "Owl" Tetradrachm with a well-centered strike and attractive charcoal toning. Well-preserved overall with great surface quality, noting only a small "E" character graffito on the reverse field.

The crescent-shaped banker's mark above the galley does not affect the coin's eye appeal or legibility.
