Hyperpyron (Gold, 32 mm, 4.37 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 1137-1143. +ΚЄ ROHΘЄI / IC - XC Christ, nimbate, seated facing on square-backed throne, wearing tunic and pallium, holding book of Gospels in his left hand. Rev. IⲰ / ΔЄC/ΠΟ/TH On the left, John II standing facing, wearing crown and loros, holding globus cruciger in his left hand; on the right, the Virgin, wearing robes and maphorion, standing facing and crowning the emperor with her right hand; in field, ΘV - (MHP) flanking Virgin's head. SB 1940. Flattened and with graffiti, otherwise, very fine.
