Lot description: John II Comnenus, 1118-1143. Hyperpyron (Gold, 30 mm, 4.37 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. IC - CI (sic) Christ, nimbate, seated facing on square-backed throne, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. IⲰ / ΔЄC/ΠΟT / ΤⲰ / Π - ΦY/ΡΟ/ΓЄ/NH/T On the left, John II Comnenus standing facing, wearing divitision and loros, holding labarum in his right hand and akakia in his left; on the right, the Virgin, wearing robes, crowning the emperor with her right hand and holding maphorion in her left; above, MΘ.
