PROVIDENTIAE CAESS / ЄSIS(small crescent-in-crescent) Campgate with no doors and two turrets; above, star. RIC 216. A perfect, sharply struck example with a beautiful dark patina. Good extremely fine.

Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.88 g, 6 h), Rome, circa 320. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine II to right. Rev. VIRTV-S AVGG / P - R / R P Camp gate with almost closed doors and three turrets. RIC 183 var. (unrecorded officina). Very rare. Slightly rough and with minor deposits and tiny spots of corrosion, otherwise, nearly very fine.

Extremely rare, one of only three known examples. Traces of corrosion, otherwise, fine.

This extremely rare coin is one of only three examples known for Rome with this spectacular bust. All are of Constantine Caesar with the 'ROMAE AETERNAE' reverse, and all are in the Ramskold Collection.
