CYPRUS. Kition. Baalmelek II, circa 425-400 BC. Stater (Silver, 25 mm, 11.00 g, 6 h). Herakles in fighting stance to right, wearing lion skin, holding club overhead in right hand and bow extended before him in left hand. Rev. Lion attacking stag right; all within dotted border within incuse square. BMC 35. SNG Copenhagen 9-10. Tziambazis 19. A very interesting piece. Traces of overstriking and the obverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, good very fine.

The undertype of this issue of Baalmelek II is an extremely rare stater by the uncertain king Mo... from Amathos, featuring an eagle above a recumbent lion on the obverse and the forepart of a lion on the reverse (see Leu 5 (2019), 192).
