Lot description: Claudius. AD 41-54. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.68 g, 3h). Rome mint. Struck AD 43-44. Laureate head right / Pax-Nemesis advancing right, holding out fold of drapery below chin, and holding winged caduceus, pointing down at snake erect, gliding right. RIC I 22; von Kaenel Type 19; RSC 53. Deeply toned, porosity, minor smoothing in obverse fields, edge marks and test cuts. VF. Scarce. Wonderful details on reverse.
