Trajan Decius. Antoninianus; Trajan Decius; 249-251 AD, Antioch, Antoninianus, 3.84g. RIC-45 (R), C-9 (Vienna, 6 Fr.). Obv: IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG Bust radiate, cuirassed r. Rx: AEQVITAS AVGG Aequitas standing l. holding scales and cornucopia. The reverse legend indicting two Augusti was apparently just copied from Antioch antoniniani of Philip I-II; there was only one Augustus for most of Decius' reign. Acquired from R. Grossman, 23 December 1966. Antoniniani of Decius struck at Antioch are all rare. Cohen quotes this variant with AVGG not AVG in reverse legend from the Vienna collection.Toned. Near MS
