Lot description: Greek KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.12 g, 11 h), Amphipolis, circa 289-288. Diademed head of Demetrios to right, with bull's horn above his forehead. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude, standing to left, his right foot propped on a rock, holding a trident with his left hand and resting his right on his right thigh; in outer field to right, monogram of ΔΡ; in outer field to left, monogram of ΕΥΦ. Nike standing left on prow of galley left, blowing trumpet she holds in her right hand and holding stylis with her left hand. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΔHMHTPIOY Poseidon standing left, seen from behind, with chlamys draped over his extended left arm and brandishing trident with his right hand; in the field to left, monogram; in the field to right, dolphin swimming downwards to left above 8-rayed star.
