KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.00 g, 10 h), Amphipolis, circa 291-290. Diademed head of Demetrios to right, with bull's horn above his forehead. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon seated left on rocks, holding aphlaston in his right hand and trident in his left; in inner left field, monogram; in inner right field, monogram. Newell 108. A beautiful piece, sharply struck in high relief and with a fine portrait. Some cleaning scratches, otherwise, extremely fine.

Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude, standing to left, his right foot propped on a rock, holding a trident with his left hand and resting his right on his right thigh; in outer field to right, monogram of ΔΡ; in outer field to left, monogram of ΕΥΦ. Newell 124. With an attractive portrait, well-struck and nicely toned. Extremely fine.

BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΔHMHTPIOY Poseidon standing left, seen from behind, with chlamys draped over his extended left arm and brandishing trident with his right hand; in the field to left, monogram; in the field to right, dolphin swimming downwards to left above 8-rayed star. Dewing 1196 (same obverse die). HGC 3, 1012e. Newell 68 (obverse die LVII). SNG Munich 1042 var. (same obverse die). Well centered and lightly toned. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, extremely fine.
