Marcus Aurelius. AD 161-180. Æ Medallion (37.5mm, 47.47 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck AD 177-178. M AVREL ANTONINVS AVG GERM SARM TR P XXXII, laureate and cuirassed bust right / IMP VIIII COS III P P, Marcus Aurelius, bareheaded and wearing military attire, standing facing, holding spear in left hand and placing right hand on top of trophy to his left; two captives seated at base of trophy flanking. Gnecchi II 23 and pl. 60, 9; MIR 18, 1073-1/36; Banti 192. Dark brown-green surfaces, smoothed and tooled. Good Fine. Extremely rare, three recorded by Gnecchi.
