| Lot description: Andronicus I Comnenus, (1183-1185), electrum aspron trachy, 30mm, (4.50 g), Constantinople mint, struck 1183-1185, obv. The Virgin orans, standing facing on dais, nimbate and wearing pallium and maphorium, on her breast nimbate head of the infant Christ facing on either side of the Virgin's nimbus, +QKE ROHQEI, above MP monogram to left and QV to right, rev. Andronicus standing facing on left, Christ standing facing crowning the emperor around ANDRONIKW to left, [DECPOTH], IC XC either side of Christ, (S.1984 [550 pounds], DOC 2b, H, Pl.18, 11-12, BMC 3-4; BN 1-4, Ratto 2167).
