| Lot description: ISLANDS OFF CARIA, Rhodos. Rhodes. early 1st century AD. Drachm (Bronze, 35 mm, 15.16 g, 12 h), Sphairos. Radiate head of Helios facing slightly right. Rev. PO / ΣΦA-IPOΣ Rose seen from above; below, star dividing magistrate's name; all within oak wreath. Ashton, Early 105. BMC 345 (this obverse die). HGC 6, 1864. A rare variety with the star dividing the magistrate's name. Slight roughness and flan faults, otherwise, very fine.
