Lot description:

Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 17 mm, 3.49 g, 5 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Siscia, irregular mint, after 318. Laureate, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to right; around, imitative legend. Rev. Two victories standing facing each other and holding shield over altar; around, imitative legend and mintmark. A wonderfully abstract imitation. About extremely fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, ex Lanz 112, 25 November 2002, 38.

This is a strongly stylized contemporary imitation of the so called Danubian type of Constantine's 'VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP' coinage, which was struck from 318 in Siscia.

Starting price: 50 CHF
