Lot description: Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.64 g, 3 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Siscia, irregular mint, after 318. HHHHHHHHHHH Laureate, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine I to right. Rev. HHHHHHHHH/-HH- Two victories standing facing each other and holding shield over altar. A lovely imitation with charmingly abstract 'legends'. Minor smoothing and with some weakness, otherwise, very fine. From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969. This is a contemporary imitation of the so called Danubian type of Constantine's 'VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP' coinage, which was struck from 318 in Siscia. Starting price: 50 CHF |
