Lot description: Licinius II, Caesar, 317-324. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.05 g, 12 h), Rome, circa 320. LICINIVS IVN NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Licinius II to right. Rev. VOT / X•V / R P in three lines within wreath. RIC -. Extremely rare. Somewhat smoothed and with minor roughness, otherwise, about very fine. From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969. This extremely rare piece is one of only two examples known from officina P, both in the Ramskold Collection. Only two further examples for Licinius II with this reverse are known, both from officina Q, one being held in Madrid and one in the Ramskold Collection. Starting price: 25 CHF |
