Lot description: The Anthony Milavic Collection of Ancient Games Coins Agonistic Tables Four-legged - seen in perspective SYRIA, Coele-Syria. Heliopolis. Valerian I, 253-260. (Bronze, 24 mm, 9.31 g, 6 h), 256/257. IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS P F AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Valerian to right, seen from behind. Rev. COL HEL Table with four visible legs (out of six?) - two in profile and two facing, and with x-shaped struts between them - bearing a large prize crown that has a medallion with a turreted head of Tyche to right on its side and contains a grain ear flanked by two palm branches; to left, grain ear; to right, caduceus. RPC X Online 63791. Sawaya 671-673 (D105/R126, same dies). Extremely rare, apparently the fourth and best known example, the other three being in public collections. Attractive and with a dusty dark olive patina. About extremely fine. From the collection of Major Anthony F. Milavic, USMC (Ret.), acquired from Spink in December 1988.
