Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Hyperpyron (Electrum, 27 mm, 3.36 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 1294-1320. Bust of Virgin Mary, orans, flanked by C/K and Π/N, all within city walls furnished with four groups of towers. Rev. Christ blessing Andronicus II and Michael IX, kneeling to left and right, respectively; in fields, IC - XC; to left and right, traces of legend. SB 2396. Clipped and struck from worn dies, otherwise, very fine.
