BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Menander I, circa 165/55-130 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 9.76 g, 12 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara. BAΣIΛΕΩΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ / MENANΔPOY Diademed and draped bust of Menander to right. Rev. 'Maharajasa tratarasa Menamdrasa' ('of the Great King Menander the Savior' in Karoshti) Athena Promachos advancing left, holding shield on left arm and brandishing thunderbolt with her right; to left, Σ; to right, monogram. Bopearachchi 12A. HGC 12, 181. Flan cracks, otherwise, about very fine.
