Lot description: Baktria, Greco-Baktrian Kingdom, Antimachos I (c. 185-170 BC), silver Tetradrachm, Balkh (?), diademed and draped bust of Antimachos right, wearing kausia, straight ties, rev. BAΣIΛΕΩΣ θΕΟΥ ΑΝΤΙΜΑΧΟΥ, Poseidon standing facing, holding trident and palm branch, N within circle in field, 16.71g, 12h (Bopearachchi 1D; Mitchiner 124b; SNG ANS 276-7). Wonderful portrait, extremely fine. For nearly two centuries Baktria remained the easternmost outpost of the ancient Greek world.
