ARABIA, Eastern. Uncertain, circa 180-140 BCE. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.19 g, 12 h), imitating Alexander 'the Great' (336-323 BCE). Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [A]ΛEΞANΔ[...] Zeus/Shams seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; below throne, uncertain object or control (Z or T?); to lower left, antelope or stag standing left. Huth -, cf. 142 (similar type, but differing fabric and without control below the throne). Munro-Hay -. Apparently unpublished. Somewhat porous, otherwise, about very fine.

Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, wheel above monogram of TE; below throne, monogram. Price P202. Well centered and nicely toned. Lights scratches on the obverse and light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
