Aspron Trachy (Billon, 29 mm, 3.58 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. +ΚЄ ROHΘЄI Draped bust of Christ facing, nimbate, raising his right hand in benediction and holding scroll in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. Alexius III standing facing on the left, and St. Constantine, nimbate and bearded, standing facing on the right, each wears crown, divitision and loros and holds labarum; both holding between them globus cruciger. SB 2012 or 2013. Areas of weakness, otherwise, very fine.


From the collection of Dr. Max Blaschegg (1930-2021, with collector's ticket), privately acquired in Reith in 1944 ('Geschenk').

SB 2012 or 2013. A very attractive example with an exceptional reverse. Minor deposits, otherwise, extremely fine.

AΛЄΣIⲰ ΔЄCΠΟ [ ... ] Alexius III standing facing on the left, wearing crown and loros, holding labarum set on globe together with St. Constantine, standing facing on the right, nimbate, bearded and crowned, wearing divitision and loros; both holding cruciform scepter. DOC 2a. SB 2009. Sharply struck and unusually well preserved. Minor weakness on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
