Andronicus I Comnenus, 1183-1185. Aspron Trachy (Billon, 30 mm, 4.61 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. The Virgin, nimbate, standing facing on dais, wearing pallium and maphorium, holding before Her nimbate head of infant Christ; in fields to left and right, MHP and ΘV. Rev. ΑNΔPONIKOC On the left, Andronicus I standing facing, with forked beard, wearing divitision and loros, holding labarum in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left, on the right, Christ standing facing flanked by IC - XC, nimbate, wearing pallium and colobium, holding book of Gospels in his left hand and crowning the Emperor with his right. DOC 3b. SB 1985. Minor graffiti, otherwise, very fine.
