John II Comnenus, 1118-1143. Hyperpyron (Gold, 30 mm, 4.38 g, 5 h), Constantinopolis. Christ, nimbate, seated facing on square-backed throne, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in field to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. Ιω / ΔЄC/ΠΟT / Τω / Π-ΦY/ΡΟ/ΓЄ/NI/T On the left, John II Comnenus standing facing, wearing divitision and loros and holding labarum in his right hand and akakia in his left; on the right, the Virgin, wearing robes, crowning the emperor with her right hand and holding maphorion in her left; above, MΘ. SB 1939. Graffiti and the flan somewhat wavy, otherwise, very fine.
