| Lot description: Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 19 mm, 3.37 g, 7 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Diademed head of Venus to right. Rev. CAES[AR] Aeneas advancing left, carrying palladium in his right hand and Anchises on his left shoulder. Cf. Babelon (Julia) 10, Crawford 458/1, RBW 1600 and Sydenham 1013 (for prototype).
