Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan to 'Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz. AH 65-101 / AD 685-720. Æ Fals (27mm, 3.44 g, 10h). North Africa (Carthage) mint. Struck circa AH 79-90 (AD 698-710). Crowned and draped Byzantine-style older and younger facing busts (modeled on Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine) / Modified cross potent set on two steps. Walker, Arab-Byzantine 156-8; Album 118. Dark green patina, light porosity, cleaning marks, struck on cast flan with sprue remaining. Near VF.
