Lot description: Medieval India : Western Gangas Gangas of Talakadu as Feudatories of the Rashtrakutas, Repousse fabric, Gold Punch Marked Gadyana, 3.80g, 34mm, Nine punches struck deeply on a thin flan, 5 x Elephant standing in profile to right, 2 x Kannada letters "Shri", 1 x Kannada legend "Dawa", 1 x Kannada legend "Pandya" on obverse. About uncirculated, exceedingly rare. The attribution of these coins is uncertain, but judging by its similarity in fabric and style, it is plausible to attribute the type to Maraismha II Satyavakya (c.963-975AD).
