Lot description: India, uncertain mint AV Putali. Circa 19th-mid 20th century. Imitating Venetian Ducat. "Jaya rama" in Devanagari repeated as legend, stylised figures of Doge kneeling before St. Mark, staff between; imitation legends around / "Jaya rama" in Devanagari repeated as legend, imitative figure of Christ in glory, within mandorla surrounded by stars. Cf. Ives pl. XIV, 3; CNG Triton XII, 911.3 (same dies). 2.54g, 29mm, 12h. Extremely Fine; with suspension hook. Most likely used for jewellery (see Ives p. 31). Acquired from Numision.
